GENERAL INTRODUCTION:

The Show Systems Studio is where we produce, make, and build the magic. Our processes and tool sets take us from concept design or mock-ups all the way through to full-on production, assembly, and installation. Our Manufacturing and Production Technicians use their hands and tools to fabricate and assemble complex prototypical mechanical and electrical systems that support the designs created by their engineering colleagues. M&P Technicians are often called upon to support complex mock-ups in multiple sites and to participate in installations for new or renovated attractions. These are hands-on technical positions that demand advanced training in various trades

Animation Production is responsible for the design, fabrication, assembly, troubleshooting installation and commissioning of highly prototypical and cutting-edge show systems that include but not limited to: Animated figures, Animated Props, Show Action Equipment, Special Effects, and Show Control cabinets that interface with multiple disciplines. Animation and Production use their hands and tools to fabricate and assemble complex prototypical mechanical systems and are required to stay current with industry standards and advancing technology.

GENERAL ROLE DESCRIPTION:

Show Electrical Engineer performs Electronic/Electrical Engineering activities related to Show Electrical Systems (Animatronics, Show Action Equipment, Special Effects, etc.) where durability, long life, reliability, and safety are a paramount concern. Function within a team performing various engineering tasks including concepts, mock-ups, circuit design, assembly design, system integration, facility sizing and supporting infrastructure, production, installation, and test and adjust.

CORE FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Fabricate, manufacture and install  complex, prototypical electrical assemblies with a strong focus on wiring, terminating, and troubleshooting assemblies and systems.
• Assist Senior Electrical Engineer on design and development of electrical assemblies & systems, including producing wiring diagrams, wiring lists, and connector schedules.
• Collaborate directly with QC and Engineering functions to identify, correct, and mitigate deviations from assembly requirements
• Must stay versed on current technology worldwide.
• Ensure conformance to department standards and procedures.
• Develop specifications and test plans.
• Responsible for following a design through to successful operation and turnover.
• Review and authorize for release detailed top level, layout and design drawings of electronic subsystems.
• Identify and collect vendor electrical equipment specifications.
• Resolve design conflicts and revise electronic element requirements, as required.
• Insure the checking of detailed electronic equipment drawings.
• Assist in troubleshooting of first article assembly problems as required.
• Ensure Show System deliverables are met.
• Verify electronic equipment installation against drawings and requirements.
• Review final electronic Test and Adjust and acceptance testing documentation against deliverables.
• Support Show System operator and maintenance training.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Knowledge of the procedures required to develop procurement specifications and design documents with emphasis on complex systems involving equipment, components, systems design and integration, procurement and installation.
• Ability to communicate effectively in both Mandarin and English
• Advance knowledge of electronic & electrical design principles
• Understanding of mechanical and software systems
• Demonstrated electro-mechanical assembly skills
• Knowledge of computer, power, and communications theory
• Ability to present technical concepts in manner understandable by non-technical people
• Proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, and Outlook), familiar with AutoCAD
• Ability to read, interpret, produce, and integrate wiring diagrams, wiring lists, connector schedules, and schematics
• Ability to identify and apply QA/QC process and procedures based on scope
• Knowledge of Disney and industry QA/QC procedures and policies
• Ability to wire, terminate and troubleshoot complex assemblies and systems
• Advanced set-up and repair skills using state-of-the-art diagnostic techniques, equipment, and software
• Understanding of UL Compliance, and CCC Compliance related to product line
• Ability to field Integration includes Test & Adjust

• Parkwide System Integration
• Advanced Knowledge of Servo Control
• Advanced knowledge of PLC programming
• Basic Carpentry skills
• Advanced understanding of mechanism design and assembly
• Comparison of alternatives and determination of the proper course of action
• Minimum 3 years of experience in electro-mechanical assembly, with a specific focus on wiring, terminating, repairing, and/or troubleshooting complex electrical assemblies & systems
• Prior theme park or applicable industry design experience preferred

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor of Science degree preferred, or equivalent degree required or equivalent work experience
